Tender description

Manufacture, assembly and supply of Ductile Cast Iron Container (DCIC) handling equipment required to retrieve used Submersible Caesium Removal Units cartridges and filters, referred to as IONSIV™, from the Cooling Pond at Oldbury. A number of IONSIV™ filters and cartridges are stored in the Cooling Pond at Oldbury. As part of the Pond decommissioning process, they are to be removed and packaged into cylindrical GNS MOSAIK® II-15 UEI DCICs to confine the radioactive material and provide significant shielding from the associated radiation. Some of this operation is to be performed underwater. After filling, MOSAIK®s will undergo conditioning and placed in storage. This packaging and retrieval process is required in order to produce compliant waste packages (post conditioning) which satisfy both the GNS Transport License Requirements and the Letter of Compliance when this is issued by Radioactive Waste Management Ltd. This contract is concerned with the manufacture, assembly and supply of the equipment to enable the removal of IONSIV™ filters and cartridges from the Cooling Pond into DCICs in preparation for conditioning and interim storage. The Supplier shall be responsible for the: — Supply of materials, consumables and fixings; — Machining; — Fabrication; — Surface preparation; — Painting/protection; — Assembly; — Inspection; — Factor Acceptance Testing; — Certification (production of Lifetime Quality Records, LTQRs); — Packaging; — Delivery to Oldbury of the items ordered. The supplier shall also be responsible for the supply of Commercially-available Off The Shelf (COTS) equipment required for the IONSIV Removal Project.
