Demolition of South Building Coleraine campus

Tender description

The Contract is for the Demolition of South Buildings (Blocks A, B, C & D) within the Coleraine Campus. All demolished material to be safely segregated and disposed of off-site by a licensed waste carrier within a licensed waste facility. Contractor to be aware that the campus will remain ‘live’ throughout the duration of the works, therefore dust and noise suppression, along with proper traffic management procedures must be at the forefront of the demolition process. The entire is to be safely segregated from staff/students, with no access allowed for any authorised personnel. Within a central courtyard of South Buildings, the University has placed two foundation stones. The stones must be retained on-site and protected throughout the duration of all works. As part of the demolition process, all foundations are to be grubbed up throughout the entire footprint of the site, and the grounds reinstated topsoiled. All lines and levels to match in with existing grass sward that is currently present around the building. Two options are to be priced when completing top soiling procedures; option 1 will involve the use of grass sward and option 2 will involve the creation of a partial wild flower meadow with minimal grass sward. Sections of new asphalt pedestrian paving to be provided throughout the footprint of the building to connect adjoining thoroughfares. A section of vehicular hardstanding to be replaced using new asphalt wearing course. Extensive mechanical and electrical works to be completed as part of the demolition works, with High Voltage and Low Voltage works required to the main grid. Careful consideration required during shut-downs to avoid disruption to the University network. New street lighting required along all new lengths of pavements. The above paragraph is only a short form description of the Works. The Tenderer shall provide the Works in accordance with the Employer’s Requirements (see Documents 2).
