Tender description

The University's existing telephone network comprises of eight PBX systems supplied by Getronics (formerly NEC). Due to the proprietary nature of the NEC's hardware and software, it is not possible to purchase support from a 3rd party. This contract cannot be fulfilled by any other supplier due to (a) the need for the appointed supplier to provide maintenance and software support to the existing equipment, which can only be provided by 1 supplier. (b) the need for the supplier to provide software for the proprietary existing system and (c) the requirement to purchase additional equipment to integrate with the existing system which can only be done by 1 supplier. Reg 32 5) (b).
