Opportunities for maximising commercial ventures which include both food and non-food retail outlets. The Trust is interested in exploring opportunities for maximising commercial ventures which include both food and non-food retail outlets in its three main hospital sites in Grimsby, Scunthorpe and Goole. Included within the scope of this procurement will be a requirement for a suitably experienced and capable provider to undertake the provision of staff and visitor restaurant facilities and associated retail catering services that are currently provided by a mixture of in-house staff/visitor refectory type restaurants and coffee shops that are in need of significant investment, upgrade and refresh/rebranding, plus four voluntary sector provided outlet /kiosks. The intention is to provide standards of commercial performance commensurate with a high street brand. It is envisaged that qualifying staff currently employed by the Trust in the provision of these services will be covered under the TUPE regulations and transfer to the successful provider. The in-house services are supplemented at the Grimsby site by a commercial coffee shop and retail unit that will continue to operate independently, outside the scope of this contract. The Trust is seeking a forward looking partner to help develop and expand the on-site facilities in terms of quality and deliver increased income generation for the Trust. It is expected that the successful provider will be in a position to invest significantly in the upgrade of the facilities and provide a progressive development plan across the life of the contract. In return the Trust is prepared to be flexible over the length of the contract to facilitate a realistic return on investment. Current catering revenue generated from the three sites equates to approximately 725 000 GBP p.a. with approximately 250 000 transactions per annum recorded. By way of background the Trust secured Foundation Trust status in 2007 and serves a population of 350,000 from its three sites in Grimsby, Scunthorpe and Goole which have a combined capacity of 850 beds, 6400 staff and an annual budget in excess of 300 000 000 GBP. Additionally the Trust sees 30,000 patients per month on an Outpatient basis. All three hospital sites are located in pre-dominantly residential areas with limited catering and retail facilities in the immediate vicinity.
