Tender description
Based on the Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD), Greenwich is now ranked as the 78th most deprived of 326 England boroughs (1 being the most deprived, and 326 the least deprived). It is widely acknowledged that there is a strong link between social deprivation, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and teenage pregnancy. Improving the sexual health of the population of Royal Greenwich by reducing the incidence of STIs including HIV therefore continues to remain a vital public health priority. In order to tackle the borough's high and rising infection rates and increased demand for testing and treatment, The Royal Borough of Greenwich (RBG) has decided to reorganise sexual health services in the borough and as part of this programme of work are tendering its Genito-Urinary Medicine (GUM) service. The overarching aim will still be to provide an integrated model of service delivery with easy access to confidential, non-judgemental sexual health services. The overarching aim will still be to provide an integrated model of service delivery with easy access to confidential, non-judgemental sexual health services (including for STIs, contraception, abortion, health promotion and prevention). However, the restructuring of sexual health services will move testing and treatment of uncomplicated STIs (Level 1 and 2 services) from GUM services in a single hospital site to a mixture of patient self-managed testing and multiple sexual health clinics with extended opening hours and convenient transport links located across the borough. The GUM will be a Level 3 service available by referral only from General Practice, CASH and GSH clinics in Greenwich (which offer level 1 and level 2 GUM services as well as contraceptive services), or from the Greenwich Sexual Health Office following home testing. The service will support patients with STIs and other conditions requiring more complicated testing, diagnosis and treatment provided in a GUM setting. The provider will need to work closely with the CASH (Contraceptive and Sexual Health Clinic) and GSH services (Greenwich Sexual Health) in the borough to ensure that from patients' perspective there is a seamlessly integrated sexual health pathway. The period of contract will be 3 years with an option to extend for a further 2 years. The maximum period of contract will not exceed 5 years. The Annual Value is no more than 737 250 GBP The 3yr value is approx. 2 211 750 GBP The 5yr value is approx. 3 686 250 GBP Organisations wishing to express an interest in this procurement and receive the tender pack should write to procurement@royalgreenwich.gov.uk
