Tender description

This procurement is part of DWP’s new relationship support programme from April 2017. Its aim will be to provide a national offer of preventative support to help parents to protect and strengthen their relationships, which in turn will secure better outcomes for children. This element of the support programme aims to provide evidence-based targeted support for disadvantaged families whether together or separated, of the 6% most disadvantaged children. Families provide a firm foundation in a child’s early years and are key to ensuring that a child develops into a healthy, happy and successful adult. Evidence shows that unstable family environments, particularly where children are exposed to frequent, intense or poorly resolved conflict between their parents and multiple transitions, place children at higher risk of poor outcomes. These can include poor mental and physical health and well-being, socio-economic disadvantages as well as lower educational attainment. We are seeking evidence-based, targeted interventions, supported by recognised assessment of progress. Provided programmes are supported by evidence of achieving positive outcomes for children, we are interested in innovative approaches, where interventions may not have previously been tested in the UK, or with the target group specified.
