Weight management - Harrow and Barnet

Tender description

The Authority, is conducting the procurement using an open procedure for the purpose of procuring the services described in the Specification document. The value of the service is expected to be below EU thresholds for services. It is estimated that approximately 60% of Harrow’s adult population and 58% of Barnet’s population are overweight or obese which is similar to the rest of England (PHE online 2016, Active People Survey). Initial calculations estimate that a large proportion of these people would be eligible for a referral to weight management services. The objective of this pilot is to run a service to receive referrals from GPs, primary care teams, those delivering health checks, dietitians, pharmacists and health visitors to provide a weight management service that provides adult (18 and over) patients with: • A weight reduction of 3.3lb (approximately 1.5 kg) per week. • A programme to reduce weight by 2.5 % over 3 month, and therefore on track for 5% at 6 months and 10% over 12 months. • The provider establishes a referral pathway into physical activity opportunities available in Barnet and Harrow for patients to access • Increased knowledge of a balanced diet and healthy eating advice that promotes healthy portion sizes and is appropriate for the patients individual needs e.g. ethnic, faith, allergy, preferences Keywords: weight management, public health
