Real Time Passenger Information System Upgrade and Maintenance

Tender description

Plymouth City Council has a requirement for an updated RTPI system with on-going maintenance of the system and existing on street signs. Bus positions will be reported through the use of the electronic ticket machines and SIRI feeds. A web based command and control and reporting package will be needed and the system will need to be hosted by the successful tenderer. Local Authorities have a statutory duty to provide the public with information about bus services. An effective RTPI system contributes to this information provision. An effective RTPI system also enhances the public transport offer encouraging more people to travel by bus. This supports the Council’s objective of reducing the City’s carbon footprint and leading in environmental and social responsibility. Furthermore sustainably is at the heart of our third Local Transport Plan with particular emphasis on reducing car dependence and enabling more journeys to be made by more sustainable modes.
