Nursing Testing Centre Magee campus

Tender description

The Contract is for the refurbishment of an existing space on the second floor within block MG on the Magee campus to facilitate the provision of an objective structured Clinical Examination Facility and Associated Services for the testing of nursing staff. The University intend to establish a test of competence for overseas Nursing applicants who wish to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) to practice in the United Kingdom in the areas of Adult, Children’s, Learning disabilities, Mental Health and Midwifery. The contract will comprise of the installation of purpose made testing cubicles (6Nr) which will house a mock-up hospital bed cubicle c/w dummy medical gas installation, nurse call system etc. Video recording facilities shall also be installed to record the testing of the applicants. Some minor partitions are to be constructed within the area in addition to the creation of new toilet facilities, lockers, tea making facilities. The works will also include the modification of the existing mechanical (heating, air conditioning, ventilation ducting etc.) and electrical (power, data) systems. The appointed main contractor will be expected to effectively manage their M&E sub-contractors to deliver this project within very tight timescales and to a very high standard of workmanship. The majority of the works will be carried-out within normal working hours, Monday to Friday, however there maybe occasions when out of-hours will be required for electrical shut-downs, installation of noisy/disruptive works etc. It is envisaged that the works will commence end of October/early November with completion of the works prior to Christmas 2016. All appointed sub-contractors must be suitably qualified, i.e. NIEIC etc.
