Tender description

The University wishes to obtain expressions of interest from a multi-discipline design team for a new science development. The design team will be required to provide the following professional services: — Architecture; — Engineering; — Project Management; — Cost Management; — Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. The University requires a team to offer a full design services (RIBA Stages 2-6) for covering both pre and post contract services. The completion of the Pre Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ) documentation is be required to be a joint submission as a consortium and will be evaluated and scored as such. Following the pre qualification and tender stage the award will be to the successful design team who will be required to enter into individual contracts of appointment with the University. There will not be a lead consultant role. The project is a Science led development, for the creation of a new medical technology innovation facility. Addressing fundamental research in which to develop platform technologies for commercialisation. The project is to be created over 2 sites and involving 2 separate construction schemes. Development A is a c1 800m2 new build Research and Development Science building at the University's Clifton campus in Nottingham. Development B is a c1 400m2 fit out development creating a science commercialisation facility within an existing large open plan building in Nottingham. The sites are approximately 5 miles apart. Associated with the development are demolition and general site preparation works which will form part of the commission. The anticipated overall development cost is expected to be in the order of 16 000 000 GBP (including inflation, professional fees, contingency and VAT). This can be provisionally split as: — Development A: New Build — Construction costs 10 000 000 GBP; — Development B: Fit Out — Construction costs 6 000 000 GBP. Please refer to Appendix A document for further feasibility information which outlines the proposed development. The project will need to be complete and fully operational for May 2019.
