Tender description

The Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) aims to provide information to support the development of a climate proof society. Through the Sectoral Information System (SIS), C3S funded seven Proof of Concepts projects (POCs) addressing the needs of sectoral users in water, energy, insurance, agriculture and urban-management sectors in Europe. It is expected that building upon the experience gained from the POCs, a new set of operational services will be developed and delivered. ECMWF, as the Entrusted Entity for C3S, will issue an ITT aiming for the development of operational services able to provide global climate information of high impact and relevance to users operating on a global scale (e.g. insurance, food-security, transport, commodity market, tourism). The successful bidder(s) will be asked to develop a service that, once completed, can be incorporated into the CDS interface. The service(s), which will need to operate at a global scale, will be designed so that both European businesses and the society at large will be able to benefit from it. ECMWF is looking for innovative solutions that clearly demonstrate the business case for use of state-of-the-art climate information provided by C3S. The maximum available funds amount to 15 000 000 EUR, excluding VAT. ECMWF may fund multiple contracts addressing different sectors with a duration of maximum 18 months.
