Supply of a Liquid Metal Pump to the University of Sheffield's Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre's Castings Group Characteristics: — The pump is required to fill sand and ceramic moulds with aluminium that is stored in the holding chamber of a larger melting unit. — Should be capable of supplying liquid aluminium from a counter-gravity orientation into the moulds. — The pump shall not entrain air or any other gaseous media containing Oxygen. — The pump shall not entrain any air during its operation. — The pump shall be able to dispense accurately 20 kg or more with an accuracy of ± 0.25 kg. Smaller pumps shall be considered if multiple pumps could be run in tandem. — The pump shall deliver metal at a flow-rate of up to 5kg/sec, but without any form of turbulence. The pump shall be capable of accepting metal filters as fine as 40 ppm to provide ultra clean metal to the mould cavities. — The pump body and all wetted surfaces shall be resistant to the Liquid Aluminium flowing through it. This process is notice of a potential procurement exercise on behalf of the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre's Castings Group who may wish to invite bids for supply as described. This is not a commitment to purchase and the University does not require a response to this Prior Information Notice. The anticipated date of Publication of a contract notice is week commencing 17.10.2016 and the time-scale for market responses may be reduced.
