Walsall Council is committed to giving every child the best start in life and is seeking to commission a new service to accelerate the pace of change to improve outcomes for children 0-5 and reduce infant mortality. Evidence states that a healthy pregnancy, a safe and caring home environment and attachment and stimulation in formative years are pivotal to future development and health. We are working to develop0-5 services to offer a more holistic approach and outcomes focussed support for all families across Walsall. This will include behaviour change support and interventions to reduce risks in pregnancy and beyond, and improve health and social factors that are impacting onwomen/familes – including mental health, drug and alcohol issues, domestic abuse, neglect, smoking and obesty. The Walsall Health Child Programme will be based around 2 elements: • Healthy Child Programme 0-5 (based on a universal proportionalistic approach) • Support for a healthy pregnancy All services provided will be based on current evidence and incorporate learning from effective services. The Council is looking to appoint one supplier for this Contract.
