Tender description
Public Sector Prison Industries (PSPI) is part of the National Offender Management Service — an Executive Agency of the Ministry of Justice. The purpose of PSPI is to help reduce the potential for prisoners to re offend and to help PSPI deliver decent regimes. Allied to that purpose are 2 main aims: 1. To provide employment for prisoners, enabling them to experience real work, on the job training, and life skills in preparation for their release. 2. To manufacture high-quality goods and services to allow prisoners to live decent lives in custody. The PSPI Print Team operates 11 workshops and employs approximately 350 prisoners. The print team has a requirement for the regular supply of a wide range of paper for different print jobs, ranging from internal forms to commercial work, consumables (ink etc.), specialist envelopes and packaging materials. In addition, capital equipment may also be required. The range of paper purchased is sizeable due to the wide range of printed products available. Spend per annum is approximately 900 000 GBP. PSPI utilise corrugated boxes and packaging materials to pack goods produced by PSPI Workshops. Corrugated boxes account for 40 % of this requirement. They are ordered by truckload on a quarterly basis and delivered to the National Distribution Centre at Branston. Spend per annum is approximately 200 000 GBP. Specialist envelopes are required for overprinting. Spend on this sub-lot is approximately 100 000 GBP per annum. The range of products includes inks, plates, blankets, fluids, pens, wash-up, adhesive and stitching etc. Spend on this lot is approximately 100 000 GBP per annum. Specific requirements not yet known.
