Lead Design Consultant for Major Adaptation (Disability) Extension Buildings

Swindon Borough Council (SBC) is seeking to commission a suitably experienced and competent Lead Design Consultant to design and contract manage a number of welfare adaptation extensions to its existing housing stock. The consultancy contract will include completing the detailed design, tender preparation, tender evaluation and management of the Principal Contractor (PC to be appointed after the above tender exercise and evaluation) for the duration of the contract. The purpose of a disabled adaptation is to build new extensions to existing properties, already owned by SBC, in order to restore or enable independent living, privacy, confidence and dignity for individuals and their families. It is therefore not primarily or merely, a matter of adapting housing stock, but providing an individualised solution to the problems of people experiencing a disabling environment.
