Tender description

The University of Nottingham (“UON”) is seeking proposals from each bidder, for a range of detailed options incorporating layout diagrams for the following project, “Specialised Aquatic Equipment to rear Axolotls and Maintain Adult Axolotls for a Mating Programme to Produce Fertilised Embryos within a Biomedical Research Facility. The proposal needs to optimise environmental conditions, maximise stocking density whilst optimising staff working space. Additionally proposals will detail arrangements for the supply, delivery, installation, testing and commissioning (including all necessary training in working practices for supervisory staff) of the equipment for the Biomedical Research Facility to an agreed layout design. Our Objectives are to:  To improve the existing infrastructure of the laboratory aquatic facilities  To provide optimum environmental conditions for the successful rearing of axolotl embryos  To reduce the labour input required to rear axolotl embryos and maintain adult animals  To allow the holding of juvenile and adult Axolotls in accordance with Section 21 of the UK Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 as detailed in the Code of Practice requirements from 1 January 2017  To enable the satisfactory mating of adult Axolotls within a low temperature environment  To improve bio-security to minimise risk of cross infection between animals
