Tender description

Promoting Independence in Dementia (PRIDE) is a five-year research programme funded by the ESRC and NIHR Programme for Applied Research. The aim of this work package within the PRIDE project is to develop a social intervention to enhance independence and quality of life for people with mild dementia and their carers. Maintaining independence following a diagnosis of dementia can be challenging. The programme will provide people with dementia with advice and resources to help them confidently maintain an active, independent, and healthy lifestyle. We have developed a paper-based manual for the intervention, which we are currently testing for feasibility. We then aim to adapt the intervention so that it is delivered via website. The website will be assessed for feasibility in consultation with people with dementia, carers and dementia advisors. The final version of the website will be used in a large randomized controlled trial projected to begin early 2017. The website will be a mode of delivery of the intervention. It will be comprised of resources including text, images, and some video clips in certain sections. The website will also need to be interactive with capacity for data to be entered, edited, stored, and viewed easily by users. Please note that the estimated budget for this project is £30,000 - £40,000.
