Tender description

UK Shared Business Services Ltd as the contracting authority is putting in place a contract on behalf of the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). EPSRC is looking for a supplier who can provide a mid-range research facility in Advance Electron Microscopy for 3 years with an option to extend to 5 years. The range of provision will be on a national level and will include research into the nanoscale assessment (including that of atomic and electronic structure) of materials in support of materials science, chemistry and life sciences. A facility may be a single or distributed site. In the case of the latter, EPSRC expects the facility to operate as a single effective unit. The successful bidder will have a costed access plan, risk management and staff training model covering any subcontractors. The bidder will need to demonstrate in their bid that they will provide excellent state-of-the-art infrastructure and expertise, and have the ability to take a leadership role in the field for the benefit of the UK research community. The bidder will need to provide sufficient detail, including supporting evidence where relevant, to satisfy EPSRC that the stated needs of the UK researchers in engineering and physical sciences will be adequately served.
