Provision of Academic Personal Assistant Services

The Institute of Technology Tallaght invites tenders for the provision of Personal Assistants Services. Background Institute of Technology Tallaght is located in west Dublin, Ireland. The Institute offers courses at various levels up to and including PhD and in a range of disciplines provided for by the schools of Engineering, Science & Computing and Business & Humanities. The Institute is committed to providing teaching and training to a high standard of academic excellence and generating graduates with the best possible skills and tools for entering the job market. The use of Personal Assistants (hereafter known as PAs) may be recommended by the DSS for an eligible student vis-à-vis the needs-assessment procedure that forms part of the student’s registration with the DSS. This PA should not serve as a replacement for any externally provided service (e.g. Home Help, HSE PA, etc.) Students who have the following disabilities may be assigned a PA: • Students with significant physical/mobility disabilities, who are unable, by reason of their disability, to attend or participate in scheduled lectures, tutorials or labs without assistance. • Students with significant visual disabilities, who are unable, by reason of their disability, to attend or participate in scheduled lectures, tutorials or labs without assistance. • Other students may be assessed, on a case-by-case basis, based on extreme and/or mitigating circumstances. Scope of Requirements Specification for the Personal Assistants Service for the Disability Office at ITT Dublin All tenderers will be required to provide services for co-ordination of Personal Assistants on behalf of students registered with the Disability Office, to include: • Induction/Disability Awareness training • Personal Care Training • Manual Handling training including Hoist training • Communication skills
