The emotional and mental health of children and young people is a priority concern for Somerset. As part of Somerset's commitment to the delivery of ‘Future in Mind — promoting, protecting and improving our children and young people's mental health and wellbeing’ DoH 2015, Public Health is leading the commissioning process to set up an innovative service to support children and young people aged 5 — 18 years who have experienced sexual abuse that do not met the threshold of children and young people's mental health services. This is a joint initiative between Public Health, Somerset County Council and Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group. Child sexual abuse changes childhoods. But so can we. This new service needs to reduce the negative impact child sexual abuse has on the lives of children and families living in Somerset. Somerset County Council are looking to commission a service for children and young people aged 5 — 18 year in Somerset who have experienced sexual abuse or trauma.
