Tender description

Arden and Greater East Midlands Commissioning Support Unit on behalf of NHS England - North Midlands (the Commissioner) is inviting suitably qualified and experienced providers to deliver a Domiciliary Dental Service for Nottinghamshire (excluding Bassetlaw). The contract is to provide domiciliary dental care for people who are resident in care homes, or require the services of a domiciliary dentist, within Nottinghamshire (excluding Bassetlaw). The contract size is 2,000 UDAs (units of dental activity) and the average number of patients seen on the existing contract over the duration of the contract is 350 per annum. This service is expected to visit nursing/residential homes and to provide ad-hoc visits across the patch as required/requested. The service is expected to provide appropriate oral health care, including a full examination and cancer screening, oral health risk assessment, treatment and oral health promotion to all patients whose circumstances make it impossible, unreasonable or otherwise impractical for them to receive care in a dental surgery. The service will work collaboratively with the Nottinghamshire Oral Health Promotion team. Provide dental services within Nottinghamshire (excluding Bassetlaw) for residential, nursing and care homes and patients confined to their own homes. Patients eligible for treatment under this service will have long term and/or progressive medical conditions; mental illness or dementia, causing disorientation and confusion in unfamiliar environments; or increasing frailty which means that they are not able to travel to a dental surgery. This contract is for a period of 3 years with the option to extend for a further 2 years on an annual basis (i.e. 3 + 1 + 1) The Invitation to Tender (ITT) Questionnaire is anticipated to be published via Bravo on 10th August 2016, and deadline for responses is 30th September 2016.
