Tender description
The Nimbus Centre based in Cork Institute of Technology has begun a project focused on enhanced surveillance and monitoring in the marine environment. The project aims to develop a surveillance platform that sits 300-400m above sea level and continuously monitors the surrounding area. A key market for the proposed technology will be health & safely in a marine setting. The sensor platform is envisaged to be attached to a suitable lifting platform which will hold the sensors at a steady elevation for an extended period of time. Requirements: • A system capable of lifting a 35kg payload to a height of 300-400m. • All infrastructure required to launch and recover the lifting platform. • All safety equipment required to operate the lifting platform in a safe manner • Provide comprehensive training on the safe used of the lifting platform The solution must be capable of meeting the following criteria: Ref Criteria Weighting 1 Ability to operate in both a marine and in-land environment. 2 2 Provide a stable base for the payload to operate from (minimum movement while in the air). 3 3 Incorporate a suitable attachment system to allow the payload to be securely attached. 3 4 Can be launched and recovered by two personnel. 1 5 Can be easily transported to various locations. 1 6 Capable of staying airborne more than 8 hours at any one time. 2 7 Visual indicators to meet requirements for observation by aircraft. 1 8 Emergency cut-down trigger in the event of an emergency. 2 9 Ability to incorporate logos on the lifting solution. 1 10 Can be re-used. 3 11 Robust construction capable of being used over a 2-3 year period. 2
