Sexual Health education for young people

Wirral Borough Council is seeking to commission a sexual health and wellbeing outreach, education and training service to Wirral young people. Interventions will address health inequalities by improving access, support and education opportunities for the most vulnerable adolescents who are at-risk of, or subject to, poor sexual health and unhealthy relationships. The service will base its approach on the following principles: • All young people should receive good quality sexual and relationship education • All young people should know how to ask for help, and are confident in accessing confidential advice and support for well-being, relationships and sexual health • All young people should understand consent, sexual consent and issues around abusive relationships • Young people have the confidence and emotional resilience to understand the benefits of a loving, healthy relationship and delaying sex. Any Wirral adolescent or young person aged 13 years or above is eligible for the service but priority will be given to groups or individuals who are deemed to be most at-risk or vulnerable. The service will be delivered from community locations within wards with a higher concentration of target populations and/or via services that already engage with these groups including Wirral High Schools, Colleges and Further Education settings.
