Who Speclialist Work With A multi-disciplinary agile team including UX designer, user researcher, front-end developer, back-end developer, content designer, tech arch, delivery manager and service manager What Specialists Work On The WebOps Engineer will work on an ambitious project to migrate the ONS Dissemination platform to a PaaS environment and in the process will work with the Tech Lead and colleagues to improve our build processes, monitoring, automated testing and scaling. Where the Work Takes Place Newport, South Wales Early Market Engagement N/A Working Arrangements Work will be on-site in Newport (Mon-Fri) - there is the potential for work from home days by agreement with Service Manager, Work Location Newport, South Wales Security Clearance Disclosure Scotland security vetting. Additional T&Cs n/a Skills & Experience Collaborating closely with colleagues in order to meet users’ needs Debugging a complex, multi-server service in a high availability environment Using languages such as Go and Java within an existing, production codebase Using configuration management tools such Ansible Experience of commodity cloud providers such as AWS, GCE, Azure, etc and their offering. Ideally more than one. Interested in DevOps, and infrastructure as code. Understand the concept of a Platform as a Service (PaaS) Familiarity with Docker Understanding of application deployment strategies, continuous integration and version control (git, svn, bzr, mercurial) Rigorous approach to software development (TDD, code review, pairing) Ability to develop tooling for automation and provisioning. Knowledge and experience of Jenkins. Knowledge and experience of Kafka.
