Tender description

The supply and delivery of Deschampsia flexuosa and dwarf shrub seed mix which will be applied by helicopter to damaged areas of moorland in the Peak District National Park and South Pennines SAC. The Framework Agreement is for the supply of a seed mix containing Deschampsia flexuosa and 2 dwarf shrub species, which is suitable for being sown as part of a nurse crop mix for a moorland restoration purposes. The dwarf shrub species required are Calluna vulgaris and Erica tetralix. The areas to be seeded: i. Have a very low nutrient level and pH; ii. Are at an altitude of 500 - 600 m with considerable wind exposure; iii. Are subject to very low average winter temperatures, and; iv. Experience high annual rainfall. The Seed will treat approximately 1 290 hectares (Ha) with an application rate of approximately 50.35 kg of nurse crop seed mix per Ha. The Seed should be supplied as bags of 25 kg, stacked onto pallets and shrink wrapped in weatherproof packaging. Seed should be delivered to delivery sites in a location set out in the relevant Purchase Order (generally the Glossop area).
