COURSE ELEMENTS OF THE IALA V1O3 MODEL TRAINING COURSE

Tender description

The MCA has an ongoing legal requirement for the Maritime Operational Staff responsible for Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) duties to obtain a VTS V103 Operators certificate, which comprises of a number of different course elements. VTS Basic Operator certificates will be an ongoing and enduring requirement for either new entries or additional Maritime Operations staff broadening their professional skills to satisfy Operational needs In the past, the MCA has booked training courses on a case by case basis, going out to training providers for quotes each time. It is considered that this does not represent the most efficient use of resources for the MCA or our contractors, and that longer term agreements with training providers would lead to increased certainty and reduce the administrative burden on both sides. We have therefore decided to go out to tender for a contract with a suitable training provider, which will last a minimum of four years. The training provider shall provide technical training to meet the required level of competency in. • V103/1 - Module 4 Nauticle Knowledge • V103/1 - Bridging Module VTA Radar / ARPA • V103/1 - Induction and Simulator • V103/3 - Refresher training
