Summary of the work Working with a small team to coach on use of agile project, programme and portfolio management for non digital projects. Working on a part time basis of roughly 1-2 days per month. Specialist role Agile coach Latest start date 15/09/2016 Maximum Day Rate £600 - £650 Who Speclialist Work With You will be primarily working with our Change Management team and Research and Stakeholder Engagement team. Our change team are responsible for project, programme and portfolio assurance, along with business re-engineering and continuous improvement. They are a team of 9. Our Research and Stakeholder team conduct social and customer research and work with our partners and stakeholders. There will also be some work with the wider Strategy and Business Development Team. What Specialists Work On Up skill junior team in agile project management. Up skill middle/ senior managers in agile portfolio and programme management. Coaching on specific agile tools and techniques and relating them to non digital projects. Guiding development of best practice tools for teams to use. Develop light weight learning products for succession and knowledge transfer. Skills & Experience • 3 years previous experience in agile coaching • Demonstratable experience of coaching based on agile portfolio or programme management • Understanding of Governement Strategy • Demonstrable experience of creating lasting change towards agile and lean ways of working for the better in an organisation • Deep understanding of different agile and lean approaches and supporting context, such as behaviours, governance, process and culture across: portfolio management, programme and project team approaches • Evidence of embedding agile tools and techniques and be able to use the most relevant tools and techniques as needed • Understanding of agile governance for service design in line with the GDS principles • Understanding of project and programme management techniques • Evidence of working with non digital teams to work in agile ways Nice to Haves • Experience of working in central governement • Understanding of agile product and software development in line with the GDS service design manual and the enablers required to cultivate an agile organisation • Broad experience of different industries, private and public, transactional digital services, redefining customer interaction and case studies of what good looks like Work Location The Axis 10 Holliday Street, Birmingham. West Midlands. B1 1TF Working Arrangments We are looking for someone to work in the region of 11-12 days in total but split over the business year, so we can draw on to a mutually beneficial timetable. The reason for this is to allow the team to have specific coaching sessions and put works into practice before the follow up. Exact dates could be agreed following the successful process. Is there a travel expense allowance or does that day rate need to include all travel expenses to/from Birmingham? Our preference would be for any successful candidate to cover their own travel and subsistence to Birmingham; however we may be prepared to negotiate on that with any successful supplier. If for any reason we request the candidate to work from another OPG office other than Birmingham we would cover the travel costs for this ourselves. 2. Could you provide some examples of the types of project covered? "Non digital" covers a lot of possible areas and best-fit techniques will vary substantially between them. Our two teams will work on a variety of different types of projects.These will differ but could broadly be categorised business and organisational design and development, revaluation of business process to produce savings, new policy initiatives, culture development, some joint ventures with partners, some pieces of research and larger scale reviews of service but again with a focus on either making them more digital or re-engineering them. 3. Is your maximum day rate indicative or an absolute maximum? The maximum rate has been based on average market rates that we have obtained for the role and used to assume our budget for the spend. There would be nothing to stop a supplier submitting candidates above this rate but we will be evaluating candidates based on a 35% weighting on price.
