Achieving Permanence Training

The Children’s Early Help Psychology and Social Care Service (CEHPSCS) uses a multi-agency approach to working with children, young people and whole families. The support offered to those families is intended to improve the wellbeing, health, development and safety of the children and young people. We use a relationship-based systemic pro-social learning approach and our interventions are based around the use of Signs of Safety, Motivational Interviewing and the Family Partnership Model. In July 2016 the Government published an Achieving Permanence Knowledge and skills statement for consultation (Attached to this RFQ).This is relevant for social workers who are involved in planning permanence arrangements for children and sets out what they need to know in order to undertake the assessment, analysis and decision-making that is required with the requisite urgency and skill. It is intended that by 2020 a national assessment and accreditation system will be in place. This will provide a mechanism through which the knowledge and skills statements can be embedded and social workers can demonstrate the quality of their practice. We would expect that the provider of the Achieving Permanence training would ensure that the training is updated as necessary to ensure that meets these requirements as they become clearer. Over the 2 year period covered by this contract we will require the delivery of 60 days of training. This will be comprised of 20 three day courses. Each course will be attended by a maximum of 20 managers, social workers and family support workers working in the CEHPSCS. Keywords: cornwall, training, permanence
