A Transcriptomics System for the Veterinary Sciences Centre, UCD

Tender description

The UCD Veterinary Sciences Centre hosts a range of research activities including a Transcriptomics Laboratory which is managed by a dedicated technician. The application of ‘omic approaches to veterinary and animal science is gaining in importance, and the next step in the evolution of the Transcriptomics Laboratory is to provide increased support for analysis of multiple target genes across diverse sample sets. This is becoming increasingly important in determination of sensitivity and specificity of novel biomarkers identified from transcriptomics studies of infection time courses, vaccine efficacy, physiological status etc. A high throughput transcriptomics capacity will therefore help to develop the Transcriptomics Laboratory as a dedicated national facility for veterinary and animal science research that builds on existing UCD expertise in this area.
