Tender description

A high percentage of councils have plans to replace a substantial percentage of their traditional street lighting assets with energy efficient lighting, primarily LED lanterns, over the next 4 years and beyond. Based on current forecasts, it is anticipated that collectively councils will replace approximately 50 % of the traditional street lighting lanterns in Scotland with energy efficient LED lanterns in this period and possibly in excess of this if business cases support more widespread replacement. It is anticipated that councils will need to regularly engage external contractors to support these programmes where the council has no direct workforce who can meet the demands, or to supplement councils direct workforce in order to complete the volume of work required to accomplish this transformation of Scotland's lighting asset base. This framework is intended to provide an efficient method of engaging external contractors to provide works required across Councils to meet the demanding needs of their LED replacement programmes.
