Tender description

1. Introduction Health Education England (HEE) has the responsibility for ensuring that whole healthcare workforce has the right skills and attitudes and is looking at how the we support the whole workforce within the NHS and not just those undertaken a formal route of training. In the East Midlands there are around 890 non-training grade doctors (see appendix 1 for distribution) with around half performing at an equivalent to core level. This group of doctors currently have variable access to education or opportunities to enhance their skills unlike their colleagues who are training towards CCT. In light of this, Health Education England working across the East Midlands would like to work collaboratively with Trusts to implement a structured educational package to those core level doctors who are not undertaking an approved training programme. There are a number of training gaps which we are aware the Trusts currently have to recruit expensive locums into in order to fulfil the gaps service delivery that the training vacancies create. It is hoped that with the offer of education within non-training grade doctors, this may attract doctors who are not wishing to undertake a training post to apply for these posts and may also eventually support them back into training. Aims and Objectives HEE are inviting proposals from medical educational institutes to develop and deliver an education support package to enable Local Education Providers (LEPs) to deliver an educational programme to non-training grade doctors. The aims of the supplier will be to: - • Deliver a Train the Trainers programme within a maximum of 16 sites across the East Midlands • Provide a toolkit to enable LEPs to cascade their learning amongst the educator workforce • Provide expert advice to key education contacts at each of the LEPs in order to enable individuals to use the model for non-training grade doctors • Design case based learning materials to enable LEPs to access educational material to use for non-training grade doctors PLEASE NOTE: Interested suppliers will need to register on HEE E-tendering Portal via the following link: https://procontract.due-north.com/SupplierPreLoginHome
