1342/289/SW/N/16 Multi-axis CNC Fibre Laser Texturing Machine — 2 Lots The University of Sheffield wishes to invite tenders for the supply of a Multi-axis CNC Fibre Laser Texturing Machine or Multi-axis CNC Milling Machine with Fibre Laser Texturing for use within the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre's Nuclear Group at Catcliffe, Rotherham. Scope of Requirement: Lot 1 — Multi-axis CNC Fibre Laser Texturing Machine. Lot 2 — Multi-axis CNC Milling Machine with Fibre Laser Texturing. The Nuclear AMRC will be undertaking research to develop functional texture geometries at the surface level. These textures will aid lubricity of mating faces to improve performance and component life, texture will also be developed to improve adhesion for subsequent surface coatings. As part of the equipment strategy a requirement for a ‘Fibre’ laser texturing capability has been identified. The equipment will be used to develop textures that will enhance component functional performance. This specification is aimed at purchasing a single machine. It is expected that suppliers will provide long term support for the equipment including application engineering, programming and software upgrades.
