Tender description

To provide Torpedoes in service support for up to 10 years duration from 2019. Tasks include: Perform as Co-ordinating Design Authority for Spearfish and Sting Ray Torpedoes, to potentially include the following service elements however the scope of the requirement is under review: 1) Torpedo Out-loads and Returns, 2) Stock Management, 3) Technical Services, 4) Integrated Logistics Support. 5) Safety and Environmental Management, 6) Support to Spearfish in Service Firings, 7) Asset Accounting. 8) Sting Ray In-Service Firings. Further details below: II.4.1) The Spearfish Torpedo is in service with the Royal Navy, out of service date is 2060. Spearfish is currently being upgraded to mod 1 by BAES. Both mod 0 and mod 1 Spearfish are required to be supported. The Sting Ray Torpedo is also in service with the Royal Navy, out of service date being 2030. II.4.2) BAE Systems Maritime Services Ltd are the incumbent supplier and Design Authority for both weapons. II.4.3) There are 2 Major Sub-Contractors: Defence Munitions Beith and Gosport for weapon storage processing and out-loads and Hamilton Sundstrand Corporation for overhauls and re-certification of the Spearfish Engine. II.4.4) The new contract is estimated to start in June 2019. This PIN is being issued by the MoD to help it understand what suppliers are available in the marketplace. The MoD therefore encourages any supplier that believes it has the capability to fulfil the requirement detailed in this PIN to contact the issuing authority at I.1) above. This PIN is not a Contract Notice and is not a means to seek formal expressions of interest. That opportunity may become available when the MoD has a more informed picture of the supply market. This is likely to be a CAT A1 to CAT A requirement depending on scope and duration.
