The Provision of Fuel saving driver training - call-off contract

Tender description

St. Helens Council has recently appointed a Business Support Assistant to work directly with businesses to assist in implementing sustainable travel measures. The post will build on the previous Local Sustainable Transport Fund travel plan support successes, strengthening existing relationships, understanding transport-related issues and providing businesses with tailored support to produce detailed travel plans for their site, and for wider industrial estates, with dates, targets and responsibilities, in order to bring about a long term modal shift. The project will help employers address transport and travel issues affecting their ability to drive economic growth by encouraging modal shift to walking, cycling and public transport. The Council are now seeking to appoint an organisation that can deliver fuel saver driver training to businesses within the Borough to compliment other sustainable transport initiatives, help businesses to reduce operating costs, reduce carbon emissions and deliver environmental benefits for St Helens residents and visitors. The provision of free fuel saving training to staff can deliver at least 10% fuel savings per mile driven. There is significant demand for this service, which will serve to build on existing good relations with employers, support the Councils strategic aims and create savings.
