Respirable silica and associated construction dust baseline monitoring- Highway Services

Hartlepool Borough Council is looking for support in obtaining Air Quality Services for the following: 1. Personal dust sampling data for a representative sample of operatives: a. To establish a context for potential operator exposure to respirable crystalline silica dust when undertaking the specific tasks outlined above for 15 minute durations; b. In addition, data on operator exposure to inhalable and respirable dust over actual 8hr time periods (not Time-Weighted Average) undertaking normal work activities which may include one or more of the tasks above during the working day and/or potential exposure to general associated construction dust 2. Based upon the findings from the personal sampling exercise - provision of recommendations for remedial action, if appropriate, to ensure exposure can be reduced to below the workplace exposure limits for respirable crystalline silica (0.1mg/m3 (8hr TWA) and 3 x WEL in a 15 minute duration period) Keywords: construction dust, dust sampling, silica monitoring, dust monitoring, respirable dust, silica dust
