This Prior Information Notice is for market consultation with the supply market for the design, build and maintenance of 5 Tram Train vehicles for the AAP. The Contracting Authority intends to undertake market consultation with the supply market. A pre-procurement questionnaire and information pack detailing the system parameters/characteristics is attached to this PIN. Following receipt of the market consultation questionnaires the Council intend to hold individual clarification meetings with respondents on 23 and 24 August 2016. The Airport Access Project (AAP) is an integral part of the infrastructure fund available to create a gateway for inbound business and tourist traffic to the Glasgow city region with improved connectivity to and from Glasgow Airport as part of City Deal. To do this the AAP is expected to include a fixed link from Glasgow Central Station to Glasgow Airport with a stop at Paisley Gilmour Street station. The outline business case for the AAP is currently being developed and considers the provision of a tram-train service, running on heavy rail to a suitable interchange where it will then join a new tram spur to Glasgow Airport. Renfrewshire Council as part of the market engagement are keen to understand vehicle technical specification considerations such as curvature, gradients, capacity, doors, windows and standard guage.
