Grant Funding for Provision of Placements for 2 Year Old Children in Murton

The free early education entitlement for two year olds is to enable families to access high quality provision to allow eligible two year old children to make a better start at school. Take up of the free 2 year old places in Durham has been very positive; however we have identified the area of Murton as having a shortfall in childcare providers able to offer the early education entitlement for 2 year olds. Although the number of places fluctuates term by term, the current projections of the shortfall in free places for 2 year olds are 12 places in Murton. Durham County Council would like to work in this area with an interested provider to support them to offer extra free two year old places in Murton. In this area, a single one off grant payment of £10,000 will be available to support the delivery of the free 2 year old places scheme. Keywords: nursery, child places
