Tender description

The District Councils of West Devon, and Teignbridge are expected to collect an estimated 7 000 tonnes per annum of food and kitchen waste which requires processing to PAS 110 standards or equivalent from 1.4.2017. Also, South Hams District Council currently collects its food waste mixed with garden waste, but is expected to switch to the separate collection of food waste from April 2018. This is estimated to be around 3 800 tonnes per annum which, subject to the provisions of the contract, may be assigned to the preferred bidder for service lot 1. This waste quantity has therefore been identified as ‘provisional’ within the procurement documents. The District Councils of Mid Devon, and East Devon are expected to collect an estimated 9 000 tonnes per annum of food and kitchen waste which requires processing to PAS 110 standards or equivalent from 1.4.2017. Exeter City Council doesn't currently collect food waste but may choose to collect food waste during the term of this contract. This waste is estimated to be around 4 700 tonnes per annum which, subject to the provisions of the contract, may be assigned to the preferred bidder for service lot 2. This waste quantity has therefore been identified as ‘provisional’ within the procurement documents. This tendering opportunity is for the processing of the above separately collected food waste streams. The Authority reserves the right to award the Contract on the basis of the initial tenders without conducting negotiation.
