Tender description

The Dragon reactor was a prototype high temperature gas cooled reactor which operated between 1964 and 1975. The facility is now undergoing decommissioning which will involve the remote decommissioning of the reactor core itself. A Reactor Core Segmentation Machine is required to remotely access the reactor core, deploy cutting tools to progressively segment the Reactor Pressure Vessel (RPV) contents, the RPV and the thermal shields and deploy tools to retrieve the waste into the Head Cell for packing or further processing. This tender is for the detailed design build and installation of the Reactor Core Segmentation Machine complete with associated tooling.
