A new and challenging opportunity has come up for the posts of Independent Chair for both the Safeguarding Adult and Safeguarding Children Boards based in the North West area. Local Safeguarding Children Board Independent Chair 4 days per month £500 per day Sefton Safeguarding Children Board is the key statutory mechanism for agreeing how organisations will co-operate to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and for ensuring the effectiveness of what they do. The role of the Independent Chair of the Sefton Safeguarding Children Board is to provide direction, drive forward the children’s safeguarding agenda across the partnership and ensure the Sefton LSCB fulfils its statutory function of coordinating and monitoring the effectiveness of inter-agency work to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. A key part of the role will be to lead the Boards Improvement Plan and ensure the work of the board focuses on positively challenging partner agencies to improve standards of practice in their safeguarding work. Applicants will need to have successful experience as a previous or current Chair for a Strategic Partnership Board, be able to evidence effective leadership at a strategic level and demonstrate excellent communication skills with both professionals and the public. Applicants will have an academic/professional qualification as well as significant operational and strategic experience at a senior level in a relevant field, such as social care, health, education, criminal justice, etc. This post will be reviewed after six months and will be for a fixed term of three years subject to satisfactory annual review. The role of the Independent Chair in Sefton will be to drive forward the safeguarding agenda as determined within the Care Act 2014 by collaboratively leading the strategic work of the Board, constructively challenging partner agencies to improve standards of practice within their safeguarding work and contributing to service developments. The Independent Chair will have a thorough understanding of the Personalisation agenda and the impact of the Mental Capacity Act. Applicants will need to have successful experience as a previous or current Chair for a Strategic Partnership Board and be able to demonstrate effective leadership at a strategic level in conjunction with excellent communication and directional skills with both professionals and members of the public. A key task of the role will be to chair complex multi-agency discussions that result in change of policy to improve safeguarding outcomes. The Independent Chair we are seeking will be able to effectively engage, challenge and lead. Significant operational and strategic experience at a senior level in a relevant field, such as health, social care, criminal justice, etc. is a fundamental requirement of the post.
