Blood-grouping reagents

Tender description

Red cell phenotyping is performed in the UK blood transfusion services on samples taken from patients and donors. Initial testing on Donations is by large scale automated blood grouping systems; currently Beckman Coulter PK7300, on machines in Manchester and Filton (Bristol) (NHSBT), Edinburgh and Glasgow (SNBTS) and Talbot Green (WBS). Testing of patient's samples and some further phenotyping of donations is performed at sites located at Birmingham, Colindale, Filton, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester (Testing) Newcastle, Sheffield and Tooting (NHSBT) and Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness (SNBTS) and Talbot Green (WBS). Testing of samples referred from hospitals and internal Laboratories is performed both manually and on automated systems. In addition NHSBT also have a Reagents Department based in Liverpool which uses antisera to phenotype the red cell grouping and screening products that they produce and where the performance of material submitted for formal tenders will be evaluated. Gel card technologies currently in use are BioRad ID (formerly DiaMed). For NHSBT Reagents BioRad ID (formerly DiaMed), Ortho BioVue and Grifols Note: Unless marked ‘Desirable’, all elements of the Specification are ‘Essential’ to this requirement. The Tenderer is required to confirm that all essential aspects of the specification can be met and shall provide appropriate supporting information on their ability to meet desirable aspects.
