ARFQ - An Accredited Property Level Protection Surveyor

Following the winter flooding of 2015 the government set up the Property Level Resilience scheme to help householders and businesses recover from the impact of Storms Desmond and Eva. One of the grants available in the package is the Property Level Resilience scheme which allows affected property owners to claim up to £5000 to better protect their properties from flooding in the future. The awarded grants can fund improvements to reduce the impact and cost for any future flooding, over and above the costs of standard repairs for example installing non return values or flood doors, used of ‘dragon board’ instead of plaster board or replacing standard kitchen units with water resistant alternatives. The Government guidance recommends that properties have a survey to assess causes of flooding, to provide costed recommendations to improve the resilience of a property and support the grant process. The Government has limited the cost of this survey to £500 oer household and the cost of the survey will be covered by the grant even if no additional work is identified. In Sefton there are 14 properties that are eligible for the grant, at least 7 of which have expressed an interest in having a survey carried out. Sefton Council is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced surveyor to carry out the initial 7 surveys and, to provide a cost for any additional surveys that may be required.
