Summary of the work UKTI Digital has been tasked to investigate and build a number of services, both internal and external facing, and is actively looking to expand its already passionate and strong delivery team and requires an experienced user researcher. Specialist role User researcher Latest start date 18/07/2016 Who Speclialist Work With A multi-disciplinary agile team including UX designer, front-end developer, back-end developer, content designer, web ops, tech arch, delivery manager, product manager and service manager. What Specialists Work On In UKTI Digital Services we work to transform large and complex services, used in multiple ways by thousands of people and businesses every day. Skills & Experience • Extensive experience of conducting user research (e.g. guerrilla/pop-up testing, interviewing, and focus groups) and usability (lab) test sessions • Have a degree in the relevant field combined with experience. Degrees in HCI, psychology, anthropology, design research or similar are relevant. • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills, with the ability to see the bigger picture and translate business issues and needs into relevant, actionable research plans and objectives. • Strong analytical skills and the ability to quickly develop recommendations based on quantitative and qualitative evidence. • Extensive experience of the research process, including drafting discussion guides, recruiting respondents, organising test venues and mobilising resources. • Ability to work with users and stakeholders at all levels. • Experience in working with those new to user research/user experience. • Excellent communications skills and ability to present research findings in a creative and compelling way • Full understanding and demonstrable experience of research methodologies. Capability to select best technique. E.g. Qualitative: in-depth interview, usability testing, and contextual enquiry. Quantitative: benchmarking survey, web analytics. Nice to Haves • Strong understanding of the Government Digital Service’s Design Principles and Digital Service Standard. • Experience of interface design is a plus Work Location UK Trade & Investment, 1 Victoria Street, SW1H 0ET Working Arrangments Work will be on-site in London (Mon-Fri).
