Marine construction works. HMNB Portsmouth is to base-port the 2 Queen Elizabeth Class (QEC) Aircraft Carriers. Middle Slip Jetty (MSJ) is to serve as the first operational berth and is currently under construction providing similar infrastructure to that listed below. Victory Jetty (VJ) is to serve as the 2nd operational berth and requires an upgrade. The existing jetty structure and supporting infrastructure to VJ requires modifications to meet the user's operational requirements and enable this jetty to be fully operational and secure, with sufficient services to support either of the 2 QEC aircraft carriers from September 2018. Key infrastructure modifications are: Adapting the berthing face to secure the Fendered Spacer Units; Strengthening of Jetty structure; Alterations to the Ship alongside Services and communications; New pillar and pulley bollards; Construction of new mooring dolphin; Installation of a new corrosion protection system; Provision of a suitable HV power supply, infrastructure and distribution systems (+10 MVA system); Provision of a Potable water system; Adaptation of the existing Foul water drainage system.
