The Council require supplies and services to support its development and maintenance of outdoor green spaces, along with coaching services to support its leisure activities offered across the borough. The Council requires suppliers to provide materials for planting purposes: this can be a range of trees, shrubs and bedding plants, sundries, line marking paint and equipment and gardening products to comply with all current industry standards as required. Tree Maintenance — The Council is responsible for approximately 40 000 trees. These are located on streets and housing sites, in parks and open spaces, in woodlands and conservation sites, in schools and in the grounds of other public buildings. Tree works are undertaken to fulfil the Council's ‘duty of care’ and in accordance with the management priorities of the particular service. The Councils Tree Strategy outlines the range of works we carry out and gives a description of different tree maintenance operations. Soft and Hard Landscaping — The council requires companies to undertake soft and hard landscape projects, to protect the quality of our existing Parks assets. Suppliers will supply services and supplies to support repairs, maintenance and installation of both existing and new soft and hard landscaping projects for the Parks and Leisure facilities in the borough. Haringey has a long and successful history of strong community and partnership volunteering activity set within the borough's parks and open spaces. The borough has well over 30 individual Friends of Parks groups who do a huge amount within the parks and spend thousands of volunteer hours making them greener, safer and active spaces. As well as helping with the maintenance and management of parks, groups have helped attract millions of pounds worth of investment into the parks and have organised activities encouraging local residents to use their open spaces to their maximum potential. Haringey also has a strong background of working with partner organisations to increase park volunteering in many aspects, providing activity and therefore busy and safer spaces. In order to promote sport and physical activity and increase participation London Borough of Haringey (LBH) will in specific designated periods require Service Providers to carry out coaching and other sports and physical activity related work with the local community, in particular young people. Additionally the Council will also engage sport and physical activity providers for a range of other purposes including crime diversion, community cohesion and educational purposes. Sport and Physical activity programmes may vary from a few hours per week to comprehensive and extensive sessions over a fairly long period. All programmes will include performance targets. Most targets will relate to overall gender, BME and age range usage, with possible specific targets being set around ‘at risk’ categories. Additionally some programmes may have specific outputs such as numbers of participants achieving awards, coaching qualifications or numbers joining a local club.
