Tender description

An array of instrumentation to deliver environmental and bio-chemical monitoring as part of a collaborative project, Lobster Grower 2. Dissolved Oxygen We require sensors for the in situ measurement of dissolved oxygen (DO) in coastal seawater at five locations, which form a transect across a shellfish farm in South Cornwall, in order to elucidate levels of environmental DO and any spatial variation therein. Additionally, we require measurements of DO from within suspended container systems which are being trialled to rear livestock at the site. To ascertain whether DO is measurably different inside and outside of the containers, and whether the installation and maintenance of a probe inside the container is practicable, an initial requirement is for three sensors (one each for the different rearing containers trialled), with a maximum further requirement of up to twenty four additional sensors in the second year. Salinity / Conductivity To elucidate oceanic salinity and any spatial variation therein, as well as calibrate measurements of DO. Temperature Temperature measurement is commonly integrated into sensors designed to measure other parameters, so a specialist probe may not be required. Depth To ascertain the water depth of sensory arrays and calibrate measurements of DO. Light intensity To measure environmental light levels and to ascertain how much light intensity is reduced by, and varies within, suspended container systems. Nine additional light intensity sensors are required for deployment inside rearing vessels. Acceleration To measure environmental hydrodynamic conditions. To ascertain the levels of acceleration / G-force actually experienced by livestock within suspended container systems, an additional nine acceleration / G-force sensors are required for deployment inside rearing vessels.
