Tender description

Through the Provision of a Managed Service for the Transformation of Renal Dialysis Services (TRenDs), Central Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) are seeking to achieve clinically and financially sustainable dialysis units across the East Sector of Greater Manchester with the capacity to meet the population’s renal replacement health needs with continued provision of high quality haemodialysis close to patients’ homes. This programme will require various infrastructural developments such as new satellite dialysis units and refurbishment and/or re-equipment and adaptation of other existing dialysis units to facilitate and enable delivery of the new clinical model and pathways. The service model seeks to deliver a practice change, moving care largely (90%) to the community within satellite or community dialysis units. In addition, the new patient-centred model will give patients the utmost opportunity and support to take as much control over their dialysis as possible. Such patient empowerment and enablement, central to the TRenDs provisions will predictably result in an increasingly greater proportion of patients taking more control of their dialysis therapy, resulting in more “self-care”, “shared-care” and “home dialysis”, which have been shown to improve patient experience and outcomes whilst improving financial efficiency and sustainability. The draft service specification covers the provision of renal services, including the provision and maintenance of facilities and equipment (including haemodialysis machines), the provision of haemodialysis consumables and clinical staff. Services are to be delivered from the Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI) Hub and satellite dialysis centres located at: • Macclesfield • Altrincham • Tameside • North Manchester • Central Manchester The scope of services to be provided varies at each site and further information is available upon request. The aim of the market engagement event will be to engage with potential providers for these services in order to share the commissioning intentions of the Contracting Authority, and to seek input from providers on a number important aspects relating to the services, including the service specification. The event will be held on Wednesday 13th July 2016 at the Manchester Royal Infirmary, Central Manchester NHS Foundation Trust from 11.00 to 16.00. Exact venue details and an agenda for the event will be supplied closer to the date, to those providers who have reserved a place via the e-tendering portal.
