Tender description

The University of Nottingham seeks to procure equipment for high throughput microbial strain engineering and screening of variant libraries to support activities within Nottingham's Synthetic Biology Research Centre (SBRC). Tenders are invited to establish a partnership with the centre to develop a suite/framework, full specifications and supply 2 robotic platforms. Suppliers may choose to bid for 1 or 2 platforms or individual instruments working with or within the platform, providing it can be integrated on any complete robotic system. We invite prospective suppliers for consultations and to submit tender bid(s) regarding any part of the requested equipment and additionally welcome offers for alternative innovative solutions as long as these can perform required tasks and can offer an economically and/or technically improved design. We also would like to establish collaboration with the prospective supplier to build an explosion-proof bio-reactor or any alternative solution that would enable utilization of gas mixture, which may include H2 and O2 (when the O2 concentration is expected to be below 6.9 %) as substrate in microbial growth. This bio-reactor may or may not be located within the robotic platform but it is expected that it can be controlled by the robotic software and barcode enabling. We also invite demonstration of selected instruments designed to work with or within both platforms in order to evaluate their performance and integration on the platform (e.g. high throughput electroporation system, plate reader, nucleic-acid purification system etc.) using our chosen micro-organism(s). — Please send details of demos that can be arranged at your soonest convenience via the eTendering correspondence function. 2 robotic platforms are required: Lot 1: Robotic Platform for microbial strain engineering; Lot 2: Robotic platform for high throughput screening of variants libraries.
