Tender description
Lancashire County Council, on behalf of the North Western Inshore Fisheries Conservation Authority (NWIFCA), will be inviting tenders from suitable contractors for the provision of a vessel to replace NWIFCAs current patrol vessel ‘Solway Protector'. The replacement vessel will be used for fishery patrol enforcement (including intertidal shell fisheries) and survey operations (including seabed grab and dredge and seawater sampling towing a light trawl and or drogue, side scan and multi-beam sonar, still and video underwater photography and transfer of personnel at sea to other vessels). A maximum budget of 1 000 000 GBP is available for the purchase, and it is expected that modifications will be required to proposed second-hand vessels to meet NWIFCAs detailed requirements. Detailed requirements will be issued in the tender documents, though it is expected the vessel will be required as a minimum, without modification, to: have a build year of 2009 or later; be of catamaran hull form; hull and superstructures to be of marine grade aluminium and of good condition; construction to meet requirements for Category 2 (Up to 60 miles from safe haven) of UK Small Workboat Code of Practice or equivalent standard; be suitable for regular drying out on sand and mud seabed; be a minimum of 19 metres length overall, no greater than 23.99m Load Line Length; be fitted with water-jet propulsion systems; have a minimum continuous cruise speed of 14 knots at engine manufacturers specified continuous output in 100 % loaded condition; have a minimum sprint speed of 20 knots; low speed capability of 3 knots or less; have adequate stability for the frequent, rapid launch and recovery of a 4 man daughter RHIB (to also be supplied); please see additional information below.
