Newham Council is inviting applications from suitable organisations to provide a catering provision at The Gate, 2 - 6 Woodgrange Road, London E7 0QH. The Library and Local Service Centre @ The Gate is a multi-purpose, state of the art community facility where local people can access a range of library and council services. The Gate is one of 10 neighbourhood centres in Newham. Due to its proximity to Forest Gate station, bus services and local shops and schools, the centre attracts a high number of visitors - approximately 170,000 in 2015/16. The Gate has a dedicated cafe space of 725 square feet and can accommodate around 27 covers as well as providing a takeaway service. The contract is for 12 months with a further 12 month extension option. The current catering offer comprises hot and cold drinks, fresh sandwiches, pasta salad boxes, snacks and fruits. The menu offered should appeal to a broad range of customers and take into account the requirements of the local community. There is scope as part of this commission for the operator to reconfigure access to the cafe by adding an external door and internal shutters, blocking off access to the library outside normal operating hours. Providers will have the opportunity to visit The Gate on Tuesday 7 June 2016 at 10.00 am.
